Kanto Regional Bureau of Telecommunications Radio Usage Fee Payment (2025/07/19)
My wife Gigi (DW8BXU) in Japan sent me some letters via EMS.
Inside was a bill for radio wave usage fees paid by the Kanto Regional Telecommunications Bureau.
The payment was supposed to be made at a convenience store in Japan, but Gigi, who cannot read Japanese, had it forwarded to the Philippines.
The deadline for payment of spectrum usage fees for the Japanese callsign JI1FGX was June 23, 2025, so it was past due.
As a result, I received a notice yesterday demanding payment of my radio wave usage fee.
What is the basis for radio wave usage fees (TAX)?
'This is a system under which those who hold radio station licenses, etc., pursuant to Article 103-2, Paragraph 1 of the Radio Law, bear the public administrative expenses for the benefit of all radio stations.'
The payment slips sent to convenience stores in the Philippines cannot be used.
I decided to pay using the internet banking service Pay-easy at Mizuho Bank, where I have an account.
Enter the payment number, including hyphens, exactly as it appears on your payment slip.
This will display 'Your transaction could not be processed'.
I tried deleting the hyphens and entering only the numbers, and the payment was completed.
Is it because the Kanto Regional Bureau of Telecommunications' payment slips are misleading or because the internet banking system is inflexible?
Either way, I need to make a note
