CwGet and CwType settings for UA9OV (November 24, 2024)
Setting CwGet and CwType for UA9OV (November 24, 2024)
CwGet and CwType settings are explained using FTDX3000 and FT-891 as examples
Hardware Preparation

The FTDX3000 is simply connected via a USBType A to Type B cable.

It is important to note that before connecting the PC to the radio, you need to go to the YAESU download page and
CP210x_Universal_Windows_DriverYou will need to download and install
Follow the YAESU documentation for instructions
After installing the driver, start the device manager and then connect the USB cable to the radio

 Hardware Setup
Connecting the FTDX3000 is as simple as using a USB Type A to Type B cable.

Before connecting your computer to the transceiver, it is important to first download and install theCP210x Universal Windows DriverPlease follow the instructions provided in YAESU's documentation.

Once the driver is installed, launch the Device Manager and then connect the USB cable to the transceiver.

  • Standard COM Port: Used for PTT control, also utilized with CwType.
  • Enhanced COM Port: Used for CAT control, typically used for FT8 operations.

However, the USB port on the FT-891 was only for CAT control, and audio required a separate SCU-17.
On the YAESU page, you can see that "Equipped with USB port for easy connection to PCIt says "and
If I thought it was the same as FTDX3000 with one cable, I got it from support.
."Need to relay audio signals at SCU-17' and the reply was preposterous.
I feel cheated by the description text.

So ordered additional Yahoo Auction SCU-17 for 18,700 yen

However, the USB port on the FT-891 is only for CAT control, and audio requires a separate SCU-17 interface.
On YAESU's website, it was written that"USB port allows easy connection to a computer,"However, when I contacted support, they gave me a shocking response: "I am not sure how to use the FTDX3000, but I am sure it will be the same as the FTDX3000 with just a single cable.
"Audio signals must be relayed through the SCU-17."
I feel deceived by the description.

As a result, I ended up ordering an SCU-17 from Yahoo Auctions for $123.

USB cable from laptop to FT-891 for CAT control
In addition, one USB cable for input/output of audio signals from the laptop to the SCU-17
One 8-pin cable that was included to connect the audio signal from the SCU-17 to the FT-891
A total of two USB cables will now be connected to the laptop.
