Oshima, Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture AS-206 (2024/10/07)
An IOTA activation from Oshima, Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture (AS-206) by Mr. Hideharu Aimon (JO1CRA/7) took place.
A solo operation, but with an impressive antenna setup.
Photos are from Mr. Aimon’s Facebook page.
Operation was scheduled from October 5, 2024, 1500 JST to October 7, 0900 JST.
I was chatting frequently with Mr. Aimon (JO1CRA) since yesterday, changing frequencies and
trying to make a QSO, but we couldn’t connect.
Even with band info provided via chat and careful monitoring, I couldn’t decode him.
On the evening of the 6th, I received info that my call sign JI1FGX/DU9 was seen
on 7MHz and 14MHz, but I couldn’t see Mr. Aimon’s call.

The photo shows my call being seen and called by JO1CRA/7.
I paused and started working Europe and South Africa on 21MHz.
Then I managed to work some stations from Japan’s 7 area, and realized conditions toward Japan were improving.
I contacted Mr. Aimon again via chat, and when he called CQ, I saw JO1CRA/7 just once.
I called him and kept retrying, and finally received RR73.
It was a tough one, but I managed to log Oshima, Kesennuma (AS-206).
Confirmed in LoTW as well.
