JI1FGX/DU9 Mindanao Diary50MHz and 21MHz antennas(2010/04/05)
Finally got the 50MHz 5-element yagi installed! I still think the stay type tower is too much of a distraction to raise the antenna later.
Each element is slightly bent, but the SWR fell nicely at 1.1!
Two of Gigi's relatives who manage our farmland spent half a day working on it! By the way, the salary for two days is 200 pesos for one person and 100 pesos for one person who came for only one day. Total 300 pesos, 600 Japanese yen. Cheap!
I couldn't lift the antenna because the stays were in the way, so I thought of a way to lift it by sliding it over the top stay.
This is a view of a 21MHz 3-elec. installation We started in the evening and it took about an hour and a half. Coconut trees are much easier.
Antenna dyed by sunset The top one is 18MHz, and the bottom one is the new 21MHz antenna. However, the resonance point at 21MHz is 1.1 at 20MHz. 1.7 at 21.00MHz and 1.8 at 21.145, a bit off from the value calculated by MMANA! We may need to take it down again and recalibrate.
