JI1FGX/DU9 Mindanao Diary18MHz Yagi damaged for Japan(2010/01/19)
Yesterday I looked out the window and saw that part of the reflector was missing.
I probably damaged the element the other day when I had the coconut tree pick the leaves that were about to die and fall off and the fruit that was about to ripen and fall off!
The SWR was not discernible, but the beam pattern would probably have been significantly broken.
No major damage to the main element appears to have occurred as far as I could tell with a telephoto lens.
Gigi's younger brother, Jundley, climbed up and removed it right away.
It was broken cleanly from the part where it was split and screwed in place. On the other hand, the weak areas were made so that this level of damage might have been avoided.
Remove pipe size reduction segment and insert new element to complete repair
Thanks to your help, it was back to normal in an hour. Installation was to take place in the evening when it was cooler.
